After years of negotiations, various design iterations and numerous site investigations, Gondolin has recently secured a Complex SEPA CAR Licence (population equivalent of ~800) for a major bespoke wastewater treatment scheme at a luxury holiday park in St. Andrews. What a fantastic result for our client at this very constrained site.
We teamed up with Viltra and Brindley and with key hydrogeology input from Nicola Sugg to design this unique system which relies upon Nature Based Wastewater solutions to provide an exceptional level of treatment prior to discharge to ground. This includes a horizontal reed bed / wetland and willow beds which also provides effluent volume reduction particularly during the growing season.
The consented system also provides significant added benefits such as amenity value, habitat creation, biodiverity enhancement etc.
Next steps for our Team is to oversee the construction of the system with an aim of being fully operational in 2024. We're going to need a lot of willow cuttings....
