Gondolin’s Civil Engineers and Hydrologists have significant experience in the design of watercourse crossings which includes both the engineering design and hydraulic / hydrological modelling to inform the geometry, foundations and construction details. Our inputs are typically required (but not exclusive) to support Onshore Renewables & Infrastructure developments in rural area where new access tracks and crossings are required.
We provide a range of crossing designs such as bottomless arched culverts, closed culverts, box culverts, single span and multi-span structures and will often also undertake the hydraulic modelling in-house to inform the design optioneering. Our Team also have experience in providing watercourse crossing designs in ecologically / environmentally sensitive areas and within statutory designations where we liaise closely with Stakeholders, the project ecologists and landscape architects to deliver appropriate solutions.
This includes incorporation of mammal passages, baffles and similar measures to enable for fish migration, the use of local / sustainable construction materials and preparation of bespoke Construction Method Statements to outline less intrusive construction techniques.
